GGG: Web 3.0 war gestern
Woran erkennt man die Avantgarde: Sie rennt vorneweg. Egal wohin. Hauptsache vorne.
Und dafür braucht es natürlich einen neuen Schlachtruf, ein neues Buzzword: „Social Graph“, was letztlich nichts weiter heißt als die individuelle Positionsbestimmung im Beziehungsgeflecht inmitten all der sozialen Netzwerke, wäre ein Kandidat dafür. Könnte zumindest 2008 zu einer der nervigsten Worthülsen werden. Gerade auch angesichts des Community- und Netzwerk-Booms Aber der World Wide Web-Macher Tim Berners-Lee hat andere Pläne.
Web 3.0 ist es jedenfalls nicht. Zu Tode zitiert, kennt jeder, hört sich auch an wie Windows 3.1. Unsexy also.
Nun ist der Begriff “Social Graph” aber auch schon ein paar Tage alt, und klingt auch etwas ranzig, akademisch. Aber der Gedanke scheint für Tim Berners Lee durchaus attraktiv genug um ihn weiterzuspinnen und klingt auch für IT-Guru Nicolas Carr nicht ganz verkehrt.
Social Graph gibt zumindest eine sprachliche Richtung vor. Doch es muss etwas her, dass das „World Wide“ übertrumpft und sich auch noch abkürzen lässt. Griffig muss es sein. “Giant Global Graph”. GGG statt WWW und Web 3.0 und Semantic Web. Meint er das Ernst? Ich glaube ja. Wenn es um Übertreibungen geht, verstehen die Amerikaner auch Engländer keinen Spaß.

There is a lot of blogging about the strain, and total frustration that, while you have a set of friends, the Web is providing you with separate documents about your friends. One in facebook, one on linkedin, one in livejournal, one on advogato, and so on. The frustration that, when you join a photo site or a movie site or a travel site, you name it, you have to tell it who your friends are all over again. Its not the Social Network Sites that are interesting – it is the Social Network itself. The Social Graph. The way I am connected, not the way my Web pages are connected. We can use the word Graph, now, to distinguish from Web. I called this graph the Semantic Web, but maybe it should have been Giant Global Graph!
Und bevor sich der ganze Community-Kram aufgrund Daseinsbegrenzung des Menschen in einen riesigen Datenberg aus Kartei- und echten Leichen zum Web-Museum bzw. zur Hall of Hype verwandelt, bekommt das alles nochmal kurz einen Sinn:
